Irene Ameena joined School Justice Project as an Equal Justice Works Fellow co-sponsored by the Home Depot and Evershed Sutherland, LLP in Fall 2025. As a law student, Irene was a member of Harvard Defenders, through which she represented low-income clients across Massachusetts in probable cause hearings to get criminal charges dismissed. She also interned at the Mental Health Advocacy Project for Kids, where she worked in the School Discipline Pilot Program representing students with disabilities in school discipline proceedings. Irene also represented young adults with disabilities in the Education Law clinic and worked on greater access for youth representation in the policy space through the Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative. During her summers, she interned with plaintiffs' side firms litigating major class action cases and also worked as a Law Clerk with the School Justice Project.
Irene graduated from Harvard Law School in 2025. Prior to that, she was a research assistant at the Hackett Center for Mental Health in Houston, Texas. Irene received a B.A. in Human Dimensions of Organizations and a B.A. in Plan II Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
