SJP Welcomes Two New Attorneys! 10.16.23

Earlier this fall, SJP was thrilled to welcome two new team members, Rachel Goodman and Katie Martinez!

Rachel is a seasoned advocate who brings years of experience to her role as Senior Staff Attorney at SJP. She most recently worked at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia (PDS), defending both young people and adults charged with crimes. Rachel will work to advance SJP’s forthcoming effort with the D.C. Superior Court to provide special education representation to students in adult criminal court.

Katie, a 2023 graduate of Harvard Law School, joins SJP as an Equal Justice Works Fellow co-sponsored by Greenberg Traurig, LLP and Steptoe & Johnson LLP. During her two-year fellowship term, Katie will launch the first long-term education legal desks in D.C. detention centers to enforce the rights of detained students with disabilities to a free appropriate public education (FAPE).

In just two months, Rachel and Katie have already become invaluable members of our team and trusted advocates to their clients. We could not be happier to have them on board!
