SJP Clients Participate in DC’s Summer Youth Employment Program 07.17.25

This summer, several SJP clients are participating in the District’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP), a citywide initiative that connects young people ages 14-24 with meaningful work experiences. Through partnerships with local businesses, universities, and government agencies, the program offers young people the chance to earn a paycheck while developing critical skills for their futures.

Our clients are working at a variety of job sites, including a placement with the Department of Energy and the Environment, where one client is learning about environmental science and sustainability. As part of the Green Zone Environmental Program (GZEP), our client is studying invasive species, testing water samples from the Anacostia River, and exploring topics like green architecture and urban sustainability. Along the way, he's gaining tools for personal growth and the transition to adulthood.

Other clients are getting paid to attend summer school and continue earning credits toward high school graduation. Across the board, our clients are excited for the opportunity to grow, learn, and earn, setting themselves up for long-term success.
