SJP Congratulates the Class of 2025 at Maya Angelou Academy 07.30.25

SJP is incredibly proud of all the recent graduates of Maya Angelou Academy (MAA) at the D.C. Jail! Many of the students are current clients of SJP. Earning a high school diploma is no small feat and this class was able to do it in the most challenging of circumstances. Special education students are protected by federal legislation, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which requires that they receive access to special education and related services, even if they are incarcerated.  A high school diploma opens up the path for post-secondary education, vocational training, and a lifetime of earning more money overall. Congrats graduates!
